Ramzi Garmou

Ramzi Garmou ( born February 5, 1945 in Zakho, Iraq) is the Chaldean Catholic archbishop of Tehran.

Life

Ramzi Garmou received on 13 January 1977, the sacrament of Holy Orders and was incardinated in the clergy of the archeparchy Tehran.

On 5 May 1995, Pope John Paul II named Koadjutorerzbischof of Tehran. The Chaldean Catholic Patriarch of Babylon, Raphael I Bidawid, donated to him on 25 February 1996, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the archbishop of Tehran, Youhannan Semaan Issayi, and the Archbishop of Urmia, Thomas Meram. On 7 February 1999, Ramzi Garmou in succession of the late Youhannan Semaan Issayi Archbishop of Tehran.

He was from 2007 to 2011 chairman of the Iranian Episcopal Conference
