Ranfjord

The Ranfjord is a Norwegian fjord in northern Helgeland. The fjord is located in the area of ​​Nordland municipalities Nesna, Vefsn, Hemnes and Rana.

The 68 km long fjord extends in the direction east-northeast of the island Dønna to the city of Mo i Rana. The inner portion is wider and the waterfronts are there more fertile and wooded than in the outer part. At the height of the narrow sound Hemneshalbinsel Skarpsundet connects the main fjord with two southern arms, the Sørfjorden and the Elsfjorden. Along the inner fjord runs a part of the European Route 6 and the Nordlandsbanen.

At the end of the fjord at Mo i Rana begins just a few miles from the airport in Mo i Rana, Røssvoll removes the European Route 12, which leads down to the Helsinki Finnish.

In Mo i Rana also of the 130 km long Ranelva flows into the sea, and at the end of the southern Sørfjorden of the 50 km long Røssåga.
