Ranulf I of Aquitaine

Called Ramnulf I of Poitou, Ranulf or even Rainulf, (c. 820; † September 15 866) was 839-866 a count of Poitou and 841-866 abbot of Saint -Hilaire -de- Poitiers from the family of Ramnulfiden.

Life

Ramnulf was the son of Count Gerard of Auvergne and a daughter of the Emperor Louis the Pious. From his imperial grandfather, he received 839 transfer the county Poitou after the deposition of King Pippin II of Aquitaine. 864 he captured Pepin II and delivered it to King Charles the Bald of.
