Rapšach

Rapšach ( German Rotte Schachen ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located twelve kilometers north-east of České Velenice and belongs to Okres Jindřichův Hradec. It has about 580 inhabitants.

Geography

Rapšach located between the Lainsitz and Dračice ( zip Bach) near the Austrian border in southern Bohemia. To the east on the border rises the Spálený Kopec (521 m).

Neighboring towns are Františkov in the north, Velky and Maly Londýn Londýn in the northeast, Spáleniště to the southeast, and Ochůzky Halámky in the south, the west and Hrdlořezy Suchdol nad Lužnicí, Tušť and Nová Ves u Kliková in the northwest.

History

The village was first mentioned in 1338. It was one of the foundations in the course of settlement of Weitraer area in the 14th century.

After the First World War, the Lower Austrian town belonged to the part of Weitraer area, which has been granted in the Treaty of Saint- Germain in 1920 Czechoslovakia.

1930 people lived in 1792 in the village. After the Munich Agreement rotting Schachen received by the community Klikau the district Franzensthal assigned and was incorporated from 1939 to 1945 in the German district of Gmünd. 1939 Rotte Schachen together with Franzensthal 1640 inhabitants. After the end of the Second World War, the village came back to Czechoslovakia, where the majority of German -speaking population was expelled.

In 1953 because of the construction of the Iron Curtain a final Entsiedelungsaktion. Here, the place was quite Kunšach and Nová Ves u Kliková razed down to a few houses. 1985 Rapšach was incorporated nad Lužnicí to Suchdol. Since 1989 he is again an independent municipality.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the villages Rapšach Nová Ves u Kliková ( Kößlersdorf ) and Rapšach ( Rottenberg Schachen ) and the local documents Spáleniště ( Abrand ), Maly and Velky Londýn Londýn.

In the corridors of Rapšach the extinct village Kunšach is ( Gundschachen ).
