Rasmus Würtz

Rasmus Østergaard Würtz ( born September 18, 1983 in Skive ) is a Danish football player. Currently Würtz plays as a midfielder for both the Danish first division club Aalborg BK and for the Danish national team.

Biography

During his youth, Rasmus Würtz played for his hometown club, Skive IK and completed his debut in the A-Team. In November 2001, Würtz joined the Danish first division club Aalborg BK (AaB ), where he signed a 3 ½ - year contract. He was, however, awarded for the remaining six months of the 2002/03 season at the club Skive IK. In AaB Würtz quickly established himself as a regular player and played in his first season in the Danish Superliga 32 of 33 games.

Rasmus Würtz played in 52 games for various youth national teams. Among other things he took in 2000 at the U - 17 European Championship and 2001 participated in the U-19 European Championship. In 2001 he received the award for the Danish under-19 Player of the Year.

His debut for the Danish under-21 national team in August 2002, in September 2004, he took over the post of team captain by Jan Kristiansen.

As Daniel Agger also debuted Rasmus Würtz on 2 June 2005 in a friendly against Finland for the Danish national team. In this game, he came off the bench for the team captain Jon Dahl Tomasson, who handed him the Kapitänsarmbinde. Würtz should hand over the armband to the vice-captain Thomas Gravesen, but he told him that he should keep himself. Thus Rasmus Würtz was made in his debut game for the Danish national team for the last nine minutes of the game to master.

After his debut for the Danish national team Würtz also served as captain of the Danish U-21 team at the U- 21 Championship 2006. In preliminary round match against Italy Rasmus Würtz also scored his first goal for the U-21 national team. Following the departure of the team from the competition Würtz ended because of his age after a total of 29 games of his career in the U-21 team.

In January 2007, Würtz was convened as captain for the tour of the national team of the Danish league in United States, El Salvador and Honduras and completed all three games of this tour.

On 6 July 2007 he signed with the Danish champions FC Copenhagen a five year contract. After numerous injuries, he came at FCK hardly used so that it was awarded in the winter break in 2009 to the then relegation threatened Vejle BK, but was unable to prevent relegation. Two years before the end of the contract, he moved back to Aalborg BK, where he already played between 2002 and 2007.
