Raúl Anguiano

José Raúl Anguiano Valadez ( born February 26, 1915 in Guadalajara, † January 13, 2006 in Mexico City) was a Mexican muralist.

Biography

He studied from 1930 to 1934 in the Escuela Libre de Guadalajara painting and later in Mexico City mural. In 1937 he joined the Liga de Artistas y Escritores Revolucionarios a ( League of Revolutionary Writers and Artists, LEAR ) and worked on the mural of the Centro Escolar de la Revolución ( Revolution of the school center ) with. In the same year he founded together with Angel Bracho, Leopoldo Méndez, Alberto Beltrán, and other artists, the Taller de Grafica Popular ( Workshop of the People graphic artist, TGP ). In 1938 and 1940 he organized on behalf of the Ministry of Education exhibitions in Cuba. In 1941 he studied at the Art Students League of New York. In 1948, he founded (Society for pulses of plastic art ) with other artists, the Sociedad para el Impulso de las Artes Plásticas. In 1949 he traveled with an expedition by the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes (National Institute of Fine Arts) to the Lacandon, and the ruins of the Maya city of Bonampak in Chiapas. In 1951, he traveled to Cuba, then to Paris and then to England, Belgium, Germany, Italy and Spain. At times, Anguiano was teaching inspector of the Mexican Ministry of Education and drawing teacher at various schools in Mexico City. For his work he has received numerous national and international awards. He was a member of the Academia de Artes in Mexico City.
