Ravine

( Torrente of italian, torrent ') Torrente is called the Mediterranean a water course only after heavy rainfall occurring as a torrent from the mountains. He has a broad, often deeply cut (see Canyon ) and fulfilling of rubble bed, which largely or completely dry falls in precipitation -free periods.

Torrenti ( torrentes ) can be found except in the Mediterranean and in the semi-humid and semi-arid subtropics (eg on volcanic islands such as Reunion ) and in the subpolar and subnivalen area.

The Torrentitäler count as well as the closely related with them Arrojos or Bajadas ( Spanish term for gravel valleys, which also only sporadically or periodically water ) and with the fantastic desert wadis to the dry valleys.
