Ray Barrett

Ray Barrett ( born 2 May 1927 in Brisbane, Queensland, † September 8, 2009 in Gold Coast, Queensland), actually Charles Raymond Barrett, was an Australian actor and voice actor.

Life

Barrett attended high school in Brisbane and studied music and elocution. In 1954 he moved to Sydney, where he had his first film role, and was taken as one of the first actors of the newly formed drama department of ABC under contract. In 1957 he moved to England, where he had experience with guest roles in several British television series and a recurring role in the series Ghost Squad. From the mid- 1960s, his work with Gerry Anderson began. First, he said, Commander Sam Shore in the puppet series Stingray, and 1965-1966 John Tracy in the Thunderbirds series.

Between 1965 and 1972 he played a starring role in the series The Troubleshooters. The mid-1970s he moved back to Australia, where he worked in various film and television productions. He was several times nominated for the AFI Award from the Australian Film Institute, which he won twice. He was eventually awarded the Life Achievement Award in 2005. He played his last role in 2008 in Australia at the side of Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman.

Barrett was married to his second wife and had two children.
