Ray Lewis (track and field athlete)

Ray Lewis ( born October 8, 1910 in Hamilton, Ontario; † 15 November 2003 in Hamilton, Ontario) was a Canadian athlete. He was the first African Canadian who was able to achieve a medal at the Olympics.

Lewis was a member of the Canadian 4x400 m relay team, the Los Angeles won the bronze medal at the 1932 Olympic Games. Two years later he ran at the British Empire Games in 1934 in London with the Miles Season to a silver medal.

1938 Lewis ended his sports career and still worked until 1952 as a porter at the Canadian Railway Company Canadian Pacific Railway. He died on 15 November 2003 at the age of 93 years in a hospital in his hometown of the consequences of a fall, which he had previously suffered four weeks.
