Raymond Pettibon

Raymond Pettibon ( b. 1957 in Tucson, Arizona as Raymond Ginn ) is an American artist.

Training

Pettibon first made a degree in Business Administration ( MA) at the University of California at Los Angeles, where in 1977 he reached the degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts ( BFA) later.

Work

Raymond Pettibon was first known for his album covers for the punk band Black Flag or firehose, whose company founded by his brother Greg Ginn record label SST he initially also distributes its issued since 1978 artist monographs. In 1990 he designed cover and booklet of the album Goo of the band Sonic Youth. His motives were used as templates for countless T -shirts and posters.

The Wolfgang Hahn Prize he was awarded in 2001. In 2002, he participated in Documenta 11. In 2004 he won the doped with $ 100,000 Bucksbaum Award from the Whitney Biennial. In 2010 he was commissioned by the Austrian Federal Government the Oskar Kokoschka Prize.
