Raymond Victoria

Raymond Victoria ( born October 10, 1972 in Utrecht) is a former football player of the Netherlands Antilles.

Career

Clubs

The midfielder, who began his career as a striker and was later used as a central defender, comes from the youth of VVIJ, a football club from IJsselstein. In 1989 he moved to Feyenoord Rotterdam and he received his first professional contract, but was still mainly in the second team to the course. His only top-flight, he completed on 17 December 1989 at the 0-3 defeat in the away game against RKC Waalwijk with Substitutes for Tom Krommendijk in the 72nd minute. For the 1991/92 season, he spent 150,000 D- Mark to Bayern Munich. But even at Bayern he was unable to prevail and soon found himself in the top league team again. Without commitment to the professional team he left them and returned in 1993 to the Netherlands.

In the second division side De Graafschap Doetinchem but Victoria succeeded then the climb to the top performers. After his second season managed via the relegation play-off promotion to the Eredivisie, the highest Dutch league. After five seasons and 139 appearances for the club from Doetinchem, in which he scored 16 goals, he was looking for a new challenge and moved to league rivals Willem II Tilburg in 1998. For these, the playmaker quickly became a regular player; In his first season he cut off with the club second in the championship. After his eighth and final season - now also team captain - he scored five goals in 198 league games. In 2006 he moved for a season to Cyprus AEK Larnaca, for the club he played 22 league games. In August 2007 he signed a contract for the rest of the season at second division ADO Den Haag, where he acted as a central defender, on February 8, 2008 at the home game against Telstar played his last league game in the 3-0 victory, and after the season his career finished.

National

Raymond Victoria was born in the Netherlands. After he had completed five U-19 caps for the Netherlands, to Victoria, however, decided aground for the home of his parents. His debut for the national team of the Netherlands Antilles he gave on 18 February 2004 in Saint John's in the 0-2 defeat against the selection of Antigua and Barbuda in the first leg of qualifying for World Cup 2006 in Germany. His last international game he played on 18 June 2004 in San Pedro Sula in the 0-4 defeat in the second leg of qualifying for the 2006 World Cup in Germany against the selection of Honduras.

He is one of the few players of the national team of the Netherlands Antilles, which have established themselves in a European professional league.
