Real Sociedad de Zacatecas

Real Sociedad Deportiva de Zacatecas, only usually shortened as Real Sociedad de Zacatecas called, was a Mexican football club from the city, in the same state of Zacatecas City. He wore its home games at the Estadio Francisco Villa.

Prehistory ( Mineros de Zacatecas )

For the first time in the 1986/87 season was the city - and with it the entire state - represented by the Mineros de Zacatecas in professional football after the then Governor of the State, Genaro Borrego Estrada, the license to participate in the Segunda División 'A' acquired had. The crew of the Mineros consisted in large part of players from their own region, but should be systematically reinforced with players from other regions. This project was ultimately fiasco. For the expensively bought players did not meet the expectations set for them and also there was considerable tension between the new items and the domestic players. The sporting results were in accordance with, and resulted in the end of the season in the Segunda División relegation to the 'B'. There, the crew of the Mineros also played only one year before it was disbanded at end of season 1987/88.

History of Real Sociedad

With the founding of Real Sociedad de Zacatecas in 1996 and its inclusion in the Primera División 'A' at the beginning of the 1996/97 season began a new chapter in the history of professional football from Zacatecas.

Equal in their first half season ( Invierno 1996), the newly formed team reached the semi-finals, where they were beaten significantly with 0:2 to 1:5 lost to Atlético Hidalgo. In the second half of the season ( Verano 1997) Real Sociedad group winners before the later promoted CF Pachuca and came into the play-offs to the finals before. There, they met again and Pachuca defeated this time with 1:2 and 0:0.

In the following seasons Real Sociedad could only qualify twice for the play- offs: In the Torneo Invierno 1999, the first round tournament of the 1999/00 season, Real failed in the semifinals to eventual champion and promoted Deportivo Irapuato (0:1 and 1: 1) and one year later, in the quarter- finals of the Torneo Invierno 2000 against eventual champions Gallos de Aguascalientes ( 2:3 and 0:1).

After the 2002/ 03 season, the license of the Association for eligibility to play in the Primera División was 'A' to the Estudiantes de Altamira FC transferred and dissolved the team of Real Sociedad. Since then, no club from Zacatecas was more represented in the second Mexican soccer league.
