Rebel Yell (song)

Rebel Yell (English for " Rebel Cry" ) is a song by British rock musician Billy Idol in 1984, which he wrote with his guitarist Steve Stevens. It first appeared in late 1983 on Idols eponymous album.

Background

During his appearance on the show VH1 Storytellers told Billy Idol, as it came to the creation of the song: He was at an event, in which he observed that also present Rolling Stones members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ron Wood in how they Bourbon brand of Rebel Yell drank. Although the brand was unknown to him, but the name he liked. He then decided to write a song titled Rebel Yell. Together with Steve Stevens, he finally wrote the lyrics of the song.

The instrumental introduction, which sounds like a combination of an electric guitar and keyboard, Stevens played alone with a guitar by inspiration of Leo Kottke.
