Rębowo, Pomeranian Voivodeship

Rębowo [ rɛmbɔvɔ ] ( German Rambow, Kasch. Rãbòwò, also Rembòwò ) is a village in the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship. It belongs to the rural community Potegowo ( Pottangow ) in the powiat Słupski ( Stolp ).

Geographical location

Rębowo located one kilometer north of Karznica (Wendish Karstnitz ) along Route 6 Szczecin - Gdańsk. Its namesake, the little river Rębowa ( Rambow ) runs along the western city limits and opens into the Lupow ( Łupawa ) a little later. The nearest train station is Strzyżyno Słupskie to the state railway line from Stargard in Pomerania to Gdańsk.

Place name

The German place name Rambow is still present in Mecklenburg -Western Pomerania and Brandenburg. Similarly, the name Rębowo is repeatedly found in Poland.

History

The historic village of shape after Rębowo was a small village streets. It is mentioned in a 1282 document in which Duke Mestwin II of the Church in Garde (now Polish: Gardna Wielka ) Donations confirmed. In 1451 it was in the possession of those of Chorken. 1575, 1601 and 1605 were the fief of Tessenberg with the Schmolsinischen goods, including Rambow. Then it came to the Duchess Erdmut and get back to of Chorken, in whose possession it's still been 1650.

In 1724 Rambow came into the possession of the Grumbkow, from there in 1733 to Joachim Ehrenreich of Kettelhack, and from that to the von Kleist. 1803 acquired the Krockow of the estate, the 1855 family of Wedel and then Alexander von Livonius and his son Artur passed. Last owner before 1945 was the Lehmann family.

Administratively Rambow was until 1945 a part of the community Wendish Karstnitz (or Ramnitz ) in the district of Stolp in Pomerania Region of the Prussian province of Pomerania. On March 8, 1945, the site was occupied by Soviet troops. After that, it took possession of Poland. From Rambow Polish Rębowo, now ( 1975-1998 Slupsk Province ) belongs to the Gmina Potegowo in powiat Słupski in the Pomeranian Voivodeship was. The village with its 121 inhabitants is incorporated into the mayor's office Karznica.

Church

Ecclesiastical belonged Rambow before 1945 with its predominantly Protestant population Parish Lupow (now Polish: Łupawa ) in the Church Stolp - old town in the ecclesiastical province of the Church of the Old Prussian Pomerania Union.

Since 1945, the population of Rębowo is almost exclusively Catholic. The place belongs to the parish Łupawa in the newly formed Office of the Dean Łupawa in the diocese Pelplin of the Catholic Church in Poland. Here surviving Protestant church members are in Slupsk ( Stolp ) in the Diocese of Pomerania - Greater Poland the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland associated with the Cross parish.

School

Rambow was before 1945 Location of the elementary school of the community Wendish Karstnitz or Ramnitz (now Polish: Karznica ). In 1932, taught in the three-tier school two teachers in three classes 90 school children.
