Red Cedar Lake (Ontario)

BW

Red Cedar Lake (French Lac des Cedars ) is a reservoir in Nipissing District, Ontario, Canada.

The lake is located 40 km north of Lake Nipissing. It was created by damming the two rivers River Temagami and Marten River. Below the three dams is the Thistle Lake. The Temagami River drains the lakes to the south east and flows into the Sturgeon River, which flows to Lake Nipissing.

Red Cedar Lake is an artificial lake, which was originally dammed for timber floating. Today, the gradient is exploited by a hydroelectric power plant. The water levels of the reservoir can vary greatly.

In the lake there are fish populations of walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, perch, American and American lake trout.
