Red Perkins

Red Perkins ( born December 26, 1890 in Muchakinock, Iowa as Frank Shelton Perkins, † September 27, 1976 in Minneapolis ) was an American trumpet player and big band leader in the swing and popular music.

Red Perkins was born in on the grounds of the Consolidation Coal Company near by Muchakinock, a coal mine in Oskaloosa (Iowa). His band, Red Perkins and His Dixie Ramblers was one of the first territory bands in the area around Omaha, The Dixie Ramblers, who were twenty-year one of the most popular dance bands in Omaha, were booked by the National Orchestra Service for tours throughout Nebraska, Iowa and the Dakotas. Then you also played in Kansas City and in the Congress Hotel in Chicago. Perkins recorded with his band for the label and Gennett RCA Victor. In later years, Perkins worked as a photographer in Minneapolis.
