Redbridge tube station

Redbridge is an underground station of the London Underground in the London Borough of Redbridge. It is located in the Travelcard Zone 4 at the intersection of Eastern Avenue (A12 ) and the feeder to the M11 motorway. In the year 2011 there were 2.63 million passengers these from the Central Line station.

The construction of the station began in the late 1930s, but had to be interrupted because of the Second World War. The already completed tunnel between Leytonstone and Newbury Park served for several years as an underground factory for aircraft parts of the Plessey Group; a rail freight company with a track width of 457 mm combined the departments together. After the war they removed the industrial plant and continued the construction of the underground railway.

The station, designed by Charles Holden entrance building was opened on 14 December 1947. It is only 5.2 meters below the surface, making it the least low-lying underground station of the tube train type. Since 2011 she is a listed building (Grade II).
