Reel to Real (Eng. about ( from ) tape to reality, at the same time a reference to the recording technique Reel -to -Reel ) is the seventh album by the American band Love, released in 1975. The only album of the band, it was not re-released in CD format.

Background

Reel to Real Love was the first album in four years and was the last for the next twenty years. It was published two years after the publication of Lee's solo album Vindicator. On the album played the same musicians who had already played at Lee's solo album. Thanks to mediation by Skip Taylor, who was a longtime admirer of Arthur Lee, who until then commercially unsuccessful Lee from Robert Stigwood Label RSO received the biggest advance. That album was the only one that published the label. Love was the opening act on tours by Eric Clapton and Lou Reed. Due to the unpredictable behavior of the tours Lee, however, were unhappy. Due to the increasingly deteriorating reputation of Lee 's commitment for a long time was the last one that got Lee.

Reception

The album scored no good reviews. Robert Christgau awarded a B and wrote:

"On side one the Jimi Hendrix tribute of ( Arthur Lee's ) Vindicator gives way to Otis Redding, from simple songs to rhythmic gutturals, Although Lee the ironic popmeister sticks his head in twice, Which makes the naive optimism of With a Little Energy SEEM a little less one- dimensional. Different Lees contend for side two - Otis, Jimi, Arthur, the weirdo who thought of "Singing Cowboy, " and William DeVaughn sewer designer, Whose top -five hit from Earlier this year Lee Has the audacity to cover ".

" On the first page of the Jimi Hendrix Tribute differs from ( Arthur Lee's ) Vindicator an Otis Redding to the simple songs to rhythmic guttural, although Lee, the ironic Popmeister it thoroughly pondered what the naive optimism of With a Little Energy less one-dimensional seems to make. Various Lee appeared on the second page - Otis, Jimi, Arthur, the spinner, the "Singing Cowboy" has come up and chose to cover the cloaca designer William DeVaughn, whose top five hit from the beginning of this year, Lee had the audacity these.
