Reg Presley
Reg Presley (born 12 June 1941 in Andover, England; † February 4, 2013 ibid, real name Reginald Maurice Ball) was a British singer and songwriter of the 1960s successful band The Troggs.
Life
Reg Presley founded with three other young people from his home town of Andover the Emeralds as a school band. Two members got out and Presley and Ronald Bullis made in 1964 with two new musicians only as troglodytes and then as Troggs on. At that time he still used his real name Reg ball Besides music, he worked as a bricklayer until the band in 1966 with Wild Thing had its breakthrough. After that, he also got the stage name Reg Presley. He was not only singer of the Troggs, but also wrote some of their greatest hits such as With a Girl Like You and I Can not Control Myself. Also Love Is All Around, which was the last big hit of the band in late 1967, was written by him. The song was in 1994 was covered by the British band Wet Wet Wet for the film Four Weddings and a Funeral, and with 15 weeks at No. 1, the third most successful song of the British chart history. He also played in the biggest hit of the band Wild Thing the concise ocarina solo.
As the success in the year wore on, trying to both Reg Presley and Ronnie Bond ( formerly Bullis ) as a solo singer, but without success. In the late 1980s he was a member of the supergroup The Corporation, which consisted of five stars of Beatmusikära ( besides himself Brian Poole, Mike Pender, Tony Crane and Clem Curtis), but only briefly had stock. The Troggs were indeed repeatedly revived, but they were only occasionally and frequently changed the cast, only Presley was consistently there. Until the early 1990s, new albums, including 1992, a collaboration of the Troggs with members of the U.S. band REM also appeared occasionally entitled Athens Andover, named after the places of origin of the two bands.
Due to the success of Love Is All Around in 1994 as a single and film music Reg Presley of the royalties earned with and invested the money into the research of the phenomenon of crop circles and other supernatural phenomena. In particular, he was interested in UFO abductions and contacts with extraterrestrials. In 2002 he published a book about it, titled Wild Things They Do not Tell Us.

He had been for most of his life a heavy smoker. Presley died at the consequences at February 4, 2013 in his home town of Andover.
