Reggiane Re.2007

The Reggiane Re.2007 was developed by Reggiane project for single-seat fighter aircraft with jet engines.

History

The design team at Ing.Roberto Longhi started work in October 1943. Components manufacturing for the prototype MM.541 began shortly thereafter. As a German Junkers Jumo engine 004 was provided. Exact details of construction of the Jumo 004 and installation instructions received Longhi until January 1944. The main man Bohm, an engineer at the Air Force Reggiane, could no decision regarding concrete delivery promised for two of the Air Force Jumo 004 received.

In October 1944, the components were transported together with the Reggiane Re.2006, another fighter project because of the war situation after Taliedo in the Caproni works. Through the intervention of Count Giovanni Battista Caproni, the two engines were finally delivered. However, they never reached the factory. Rumors after they were allegedly stolen and sold on the black market metal goods in Milan.
