Reginald of Bar (bishop of Chartres)

Rainald of Bar (or sometimes referred to as Reginald of Mousson ) ( † 1217 ) was from 1182 to 1217 Bishop of Chartres.

Life

Rainald of Bar was a son of Rainald II, his mother was a daughter of Theobald II, of which he was a cousin by kinship associated with Philip II of France. He was also a nephew of William of Blois.

His spiritual career started as a canon of the cathedral of Tours. He was also treasurer until he was elected bishop in 1182. He took part in the Third Crusade. In 1199 he arranged the marriage of Theobald III. with Blanche of Navarre.
