Regions of Chile

The administrative division of Chile has three stages below the central level and finds its basis in Chapter XIV of the Constitution of 1980.

Regions

The top level consists of the 15 regions. Other boundary adjustments were made by Legislative Decree No 2867 of 20 September 1979. This affected all regions except Region VIII Bío -Bío.

The laws of 20 174 and 20 175 from 16 and March 23, 2007 created the new regions XIV Los Ríos and XV Arica y Parinacota.

Provinces
