Name

The name Rehetobel appears in the records as compared to the communities in the area relatively late, only in 1463 in a deed of foundation of the Church in Trogen. The certificate mentioned goods, which are reaching the forest, to the deer Tobel and the Troger Tobel. Another good on the nose also borders the deer Tobel. The name Rehetobel thus refers originally to the forest ravine below the arithmetic mountain, the moss Bachtobel. This was named by Rechenberg and Rehetobel is therefore an abbreviation of Rechenberg Tobel. In the more common vernacular form of " computational Tobel " the Old High German animal name " deer " has been to " compute " changed before the subsequent consonant, similar to Rechenberg or Rechstein. It is believed that Rehetobel was colonized 1000-1300.
