Schwellbrunn

Schwellbrunn is a municipality in the hinterland of the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden in Switzerland.

Geography and Tourism

Schwellbrunn is located on a hill above Degersheim and Herisau and is a popular tourist destination. Schwellbrunn is above 972 m. M. the highest municipality in the canton and offers views down to the northern shore of Lake Constance.

Neighboring municipalities are clockwise Herisau, forest Instead, Urnäsch, Schöngrund, Necker and Degersheim.

Schwellbrunn has two ski lifts: Ski Lift Landscheide - Seat (340 m long, 62 m altitude difference) and the ski Löschwendi - Risi ( 750 m long), which are connected with two pony lifts. The ski lift Löschwendi - Risi and the compound lifts were temporarily taken out of service due to the deteriorating snow conditions in recent winters. In good snow conditions of the slopes, but prepared and taken the lifts again.

Population

In Schwellbrunn there are new three parties: FDP, SVP and since May 2010 the SP.

The community library is housed in the school building Sommertal.

The village Schwellbrunn is in the film "Un Franco, 14 Pesetas " to see which was filmed in the summer of 2006 in Schwellbrunn.

The fist ball team founded by some members of the Turnverein 1981 is now represented under the name fistball Schwellbrunn and played from 2005 to 2011 successfully in the National League A.

Attractions

Church, built in 1647/48, significantly altered in 1763 by Hans Ulrich Grubenmann. In the church of pewter Glinz Jacob, tinsmith in St.Gallen.
