Necker
Necker is a municipality in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland.
History
In the vote on October 21, 2007 approved the residents of the three communities Brunnadern, St. Peter Zell ( with forest Schöngrund ) and Ebersol ( with wet and Necker ) for a merger that was completed on 1 January 2009. The name of the new community is derived from the river Necker, on the middle reaches it lies. End of 2010, the municipality Necker had 4'130 inhabitants.
Geography
Necker is located in an eastern tributary valley of the Thur. The neighboring municipalities are Oberhelfenschwil, Wattwil, Hemberg, Degersheim, Ganterschwil and Lutisburg in the canton of St. Gallen and Schwellbrunn and Schöngrund in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden.
Traffic
Through the community Necker the main road leads 8 of Herisau over forest instead of wild - Schöngrund and further west across the Wasserfluh for light climbing and Wattwil. Another main connection is the Necker along after Ganterschwil and on to Wil.
Since October 3, 1910, the opening of the Bodensee- Toggenburg Wasserfluhtunnels the train ( BT), the community Necker is connected with the stations Brunnadern and Ebersol to the network of Swiss Südostbahn (SOB ).
