Reichenbachtal

The Reichenbach is a mountain valley in the Bernese Oberland community Schattenhalb, above Meiringen to around 1350 m, located.

Geography

The Reichenbach (also Rychenbach ), from which derives the name of the valley, flowing from the Grosse Scheidegg to Meiringen, where it flows into the Aare.

Approximately in the middle of the valley the next to last inhabited place, Rosenlaui ( 1,328 m). Rosenlaui is considered the "smallest town in Switzerland " and memories of their historic hotel in the early days of tourism in Switzerland. Therefore, the valley is often referred to as Rosenlauital.

Above the valley a panorama opens on the Rosenlaui with views of Wetterhorn and Dossen. From there alpine routes lead to the Engelhorn hut and hut Dosse. A trail extends through a primeval landscape and raise their left is the Engelhörner ( 2'782 m) and in the wall construction whelk ( 3'191 m).

Further west of Rosenlaui, towards Grindelwald, is Schwarzwaldalp. Glacier Gorge Rosenlaui

In the vicinity is the Rosenlaui Glacier Gorge, a natural monument of national importance. The entrance fee is a few francs. Tourism

At the end of the 18th century, the natural valley in the wake of the rediscovery of the Alps in the romance of a tourist destination. Eminent painters like Caspar Wolf, Joseph Anton Koch and François Diday kept the romantic landscape with the Rosenlaui and the Wetterhorn firmly on the canvas.

Mid-19th century, the spa Rosenlaui was founded, which was extended to 1914 in Chalet construction for large hotel complex. The natural mountain landscape with glaciers and gorges is a tourist attraction today. However, it can be spoken of sustainable tourism.
