Reisalpe

The Reisalpe is 1399 m above sea level. A. the highest mountain in the Alps in Lower Austria Gutensteiner.

Location, surroundings and outlook

The Reisalpe between Lilienfeld, Hohenberg and small cell in the Lower Austrian district of Lilienfeld. About its peak is the boundary of the municipalities of Lilienfeld and small cell.

The Reisalpe rises in a central position within the designated according to their subgroup of Gutensteiner Alps, which has a strong structure with numerous side ridges and branches. The peak structure in the narrow sense is a short but broad back, which is about in southwest - northeast runs. Above all, the West and the northern flank in this case have also steep, rocky sections.

Near the summit are a Madonna and for some years a summit cross. Also opened on October 9, 1898, just located in the municipality of Kleinzell rice Alps protection of the Austrian Tourist Club and a small hut of the Austrian Armed Forces are located in the summit area.

The flat, treeless summit crest of Reisalpe offers a free 360 - degree panorama and is therefore considered with good reason as one of the best vantage points throughout Lower Austria. In good conditions, the panorama from Plöckenstein in the Bohemian Forest on the southern parts of Moravia to the Little Carpathians in Slovakia as well as from the Schneeberg on the Oetscher and the high Schwab group reaches to the Great Tide Pool.

Increases

The Reisalpe is a popular excursion destination, both for hiking in summer or ski touring and snowshoeing in the winter ( as it applies to avalanches as relatively little).

The summit ridge of Reisalpe is developed by the marked Voralpenweg ( Weitwanderweg 04A ). Therefore, it is accessible from several trailheads on good paths, with a start in the low lying valley regions, a considerable difference in height is to be overcome.

  • The 1020 m above sea level. A. the highest altitude point of departure is located on the Ebenwald height. First, under the steep western flank of the high Taffs almost the same amount for small Zeller Hinteralm, then rise on the northeast flank of the Reisalpe with a steep section in the upper part. Walking time: about 1 ¾ hours.
  • With a tour starting on the Ebenwald height is recommended during all seasons combination with the high Taff ( 1305 m altitude. A. ). The almost 100 meters lower northeastern neighbor peaks of the Reisalpe also offers a good view.
  • From small cell at a uniform increase for Weißenbachalm, then level hike over the Zeißlalm for small Zeller Hinteralm and as described above to the summit. Walking time: about 3 hours.
  • From the Kumpf mill in Halbachtal in steep climb to the homestead Rumpel, on a flatter route to Brennalm, finally the long southwest ridge to the summit. Walking time: about 2 ½ hours.
  • Several marked increase routes begin in Furthof and Hohenberg in the Valley of Unrechttraisen. They unite at least near the Brennalm, then continue on the southwest ridge to the summit. Walking time: about 3 hours each.
  • From Innerfahrafeld in the Valley of Unrechttraisen access road to the Dürrental. From there, for about 1 ¾ hours to the summit.

The lowest starting point for snowshoeing in winter is the Ebenwald height. Ski tours can be started south of small cell with enough snow at Homestead Traisen Beck.
