René Hauss

René Hauss ( born December 25, 1927 in Strasbourg, † December 6, 2010 ) was a French football player and coach.

Biography

René Hauss was during his entire playing career from 1948 to 1967 with Racing Strasbourg. With 515 missions, of which 421 in Division 1, the defender became the record players of the club.

In May 1951 he won at the Stade Olympique Yves with Racing -du- Manoir in Colombes in front of around 61,000 spectators with a 3-0 victory over Valenciennes U.S. the French Cup of 1951. During the Cup 1965/66 he was again with Racing Strasbourg in the final and led the team as captain with a 1-0 victory over FC Nantes in May 1966 at the Parc des Princes stadium in front of 36,000 spectators to another title.

After ending his playing career, he became coach of the club in May 1967 and remained there until March 1968. Afterwards it was 1969 to 1973, manager of Standard Liege and has been with this team in 1969, 1970 and 1971 champion of Belgium.

After his departure from Liege he was from 1973 to 1985 first as a coach and later as general manager at FC Sochaux, the 1980/81 until the semi-finals after results of 1:1 and 2:3 was eliminated in the UEFA Cup against AZ Alkmaar. In 1980, he was with Jean Vincent French Football Coach of the Year. He was most recently between 1985 and 1990 Athletic Manager and from 1988 to 1989 at the same time coach of RC Paris.

Shortly before his 83rd birthday, he died of cancer. A few days earlier he had performed its function as a jury member at the election of the football coach of the year 2010. He was buried in Holtz 's home in his native Alsace.
