Republic Day (India)

The Day of the Republic ( Republic Day ) is a national holiday in India on January 26. Although India was already independent on 15th August 1947, the Constitution of the State ( Constitution of India ) came into force on 26 January 1950. To this day, the British monarch was head of state as Emperor of India. Enshrined in this Constitution Government Republic gave the holiday its name.

To reinforce the importance of this day duly expression, takes place this day an annual military parade in the capital New Delhi instead. It runs from a hill ( Raisina Hill ) before the Presidential Palace ( Rashtrapati Bhavan ) the wide avenue ( Rajpath ) along the India Gate, and from there to the Red Fort to Old Delhi. The different regiments of the land, sea and air forces marching in parade uniform, President of India, his office chief of the armed forces, receives the salute. The parade also includes a combat vehicle show, boat parade and traditionally ends with the flyby of the jets of the Indian Air Force ( Indian Air Force).
