Rialto Film

The Rialto Film GmbH is a Berlin-based film production company.

The Danish Rialto Film, whose former subsidiary is now the German company, was founded in 1897 in Copenhagen by Constantin Philipsen. His son, Preben Philipsen founded in 1950 with Waldfried Barthel named after the father of film distribution company Constantin Film and summarized so that on the German film market.

1959 produced the Danish film Rialto Edgar Wallace movie The Frog with the Mask for Constantin Film. Philipsen then acquired the exclusive rights to the film adaptation of other novels of Edgar Wallace and founded on August 18, 1960, with German film Kaufmann Franz Sulley Rialto Film Production and Film Distribution GmbH in Frankfurt am Main.

In 1960, Horst Wendlandt production manager and after leaving Sulleys 1961 as Managing Director of the German Rialto Film, whose seat in 1960 to Hamburg and the end of 1962 with Wendlandt as partners under the name Rialto Film Preben Philipsen GmbH & Co. KG was eventually relocated permanently to Berlin.

For Constantin Film Rialto Film produced under the direction of Horst Wendlandt addition to the Edgar Wallace films, the 1962 film was followed by Treasure of Silver Lake, which until 1966 numerous other successful Karl May movies. In the following years, the Rialto was able to maintain film production and co-production of films with Louis de Funès, Loriot, Otto Waalkes, Terence Hill, Bud Spencer and many others in the film business.

In September 1992, joined Horst Wendlandt son Matthias Wendlandt as a manager in the Rialto Film a. Also since 1992, Susan Wendlandt - Nielebock, daughter, partner in the Rialto. It also produces about their own company crumbs film itself movies and documentaries.

After the death of Horst Wendlandt on 30 August 2002 Matthias Wendlandt continues the work of his father.
