Rich Robinson

Richard " Rich" Robinson ( born May 24, 1969 in Atlanta, Georgia) is the guitarist of the rock and roll band The Black Crowes, which he and his brother Chris Robinson in 1984 formed together.

Life

Rich and Chris Robinson attended Walton High School in Marietta, Georgia and formed the band "Mr. Crowe's Garden " after a famous children's fairy tales. In 1990 they succeeded with their debut album Shake your money maker a worldwide success. With the successor The southern harmony and musical companion, they recorded another successful album, on which, in contrast to the more straight rock of first publication, their style changed more towards rock, blues and soul.

After various line-up changes the band and no longer commercially so successful albums, the group broke up in late 2001/early 2002 for an indefinite period. On the website this was called " hiatus ".

After Robinson had some time spent with his family and personal problems that piled up at that time and he also used the musical pause to realize his interest in painting as a second creative side, he formed a new band " Hookah Brown". But this broke despite tour before an official publication, which played a role that Robinson saw his experience with the Black Crowes no reason to re-engage with the compromises and problems of a band. From this time some song fragments on the subsequently recorded by Robinson solo album Paper, but that contains 2004 mainly new songs, appeared originate. It appears here for the first time as a singer in appearance.

In March 2005, the Black Crowes went again on tour together. There followed several new albums or DVD releases.

In October 2011, his second solo album was released through a crooked sun on the various guest musicians, such as Warren Haynes who participated in the recordings. As part of a European tour for this album, he also came for several concerts in early 2012 to Germany. Previously, nor was the Llama Blues EP containing four songs, re-released as a download. It also appeared yet another edition of Through a crooked sun, which contains all four songs from the EP as bonus tracks. As indicated in the title Llama Blues, the EP is very blue -heavy, resulting from a variety of slide guitar, harmonica and vocals, was recorded through a harmonica microphone. At no other recording Robinson goes so far in the direction of black, electric blues.

Steve Molitz, which, inter alia, as a keyboardist of Particle and its cooperation with G.Love or Phil Lesh & Friends is known, has worked not only on the album Through A Crooked Sun, but now has probably also for solid live lineup the band behind Crooked Sun is called. Molitz is also a friend since 2002 with the guitarist Doors Robbie Krieger, with which he pursues his own band project The Roadhouse Rebels. Robinson rose in 2012 for some concerts in the group. In August 2012, the album Flesh and Blood by Sandi Thom appeared that Robinson produced. During the recordings appeared on several songs Audley Freed and Steve Gorman with, both known from her work with the Black Crowes.
