Richard Bruno Heydrich

Richard Bruno Heydrich ( born February 23, 1865 in Leuben, Saxony, † August 24, 1938 in Halle ( Saale) ) was a German opera singer ( tenor) and composer.

Life

Heydrich was the son of a piano maker. He studied double bass and composition at the Conservatory in Dresden and started out as a bassist in the Meiningen Court Orchestra and the Dresden court orchestra. After a vocal training in Dresden he made his debut in 1884 as a tenor at the court theater of special Hausen and in the same year a member of the Weimar court theater. Between 1890 and 1893 he alternated between Magdeburg, Stettin and Aachen. From 1893 he sang at the Cologne Opera notably the Wagner repertoire. From 1897 to 1900 he was again permanently employed at the court theater Braunschweig, in the following years he worked at various houses as a guest.

Heydrich was a member of the Men's Association Schlaraffia.

In 1895 Heydrich sang at the Stadttheater in Mainz the title role in the premiere of Hans Pfitzner's first opera The poor Henry. When the young Pfitzner was with the just completed work on a painful and humiliating odyssey across Germany, Heydrich presented in a selfless manner for the title part free of charge once a stage was found for the performance.

He composed choruses, songs and orchestral works and operas in the style of Richard Wagner, which were listed in Cologne and Leipzig. These did not prevail in the repertoire. He left about 83 provided with opus numbers compositions.

In 1899 he founded in Halle an der Saale, a conservatory, which bore his name and was later named after Georg Friedrich Handel.

Heydrich's wife Elizabeth, nee Kranz, was from a wealthy family and was the daughter of the Head of the Royal Conservatory of Dresden. They had three children ( Reinhard, Heinz and Maria).

The eldest son of the composer, SS -Obergruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich (1904-1942) was named after the hero of the first performed in Cologne on September 22, 1895 Opera Amen. Nine years before the birth of the son he gave the prologue of the opera the title Reinhards crime. Heydrich's second opera was entitled chance. Musical comedy in one act.
