Richard Gottehrer

Richard Gottehrer is an American songwriter, record producer and founder of Sire Records.

Life

Gottehrer began his career in the music industry in the 1960s. Under the band name The Strange Loves he published along with Jerry Goldstein and Bob Feldman 1965 single I Want Candy, which ranked number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 reached. Together to FGG Productions ( Feldman - Goldstein - Gottehrer ) they produced, among others, the debut albums by Blondie and the Go-Go's.

In 1966 Gottehrer along with Seymour Stein, the record label Sire Records, which received their first recording contract in each case, among others Madonna and Depeche Mode. He was also personally worked as a producer to the produced by him, artists included, among others, Joan Armatrading, Dr. Feelgood and Link Wray. On some of his productions he played keyboards, percussion or sang backing vocals.
