Richard Pius Miles

Richard Pius Miles OP ( born May 17, 1791 in Prince George's County, Maryland, USA, † February 21, 1860 in Nashville, Tennessee) was Bishop of Nashville.

Life

Richard Pius Miles joined in October 1806 the Congregation of the Dominican and laid on May 13, 1810, from perpetual profession. He received on 21 September 1816, the sacrament of Holy Orders. Miles worked as a missionary in Ohio and Kentucky.

On July 28, 1837, he was named Pope Gregory XVI. Bishop of Nashville. The Bishop of Saint Louis, Joseph Rosati CM, donated to him on 16 September 1838, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Vincennes, Simon William Gabriel Brute de Rémur SJ, and the Coadjutor Bishop of Bardstown, Guy Ignatius Chabrat PSS.
