Rickenbach, Solothurn
Rickenbach is a municipality in the district of Olten in the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland. It belongs to the so-called Solothurn Gaeu.
Geography
History
To the south of the Jura retired in Roman times a road, on the sides were numerous Roman villas. The village got its name from the stream that flows from the Jurassic through a small canyon flows ( " Ric " Middle High German for bottleneck, defile ) and in the Dünnern. The oldest written reference dates from a land sale of the Counts of Frohnburg to the monastery of St. Urban in 1288th
Castle Rickenbach
On the Bünte Rain, northwest of the chapel Ricke Bach, is a city built around 1050 by the Count Kuno of Rheinfelden castle. After 1080 it became part of the diocese of Basel and has been extended. Already in the first half of the 12th century it was gradually abandoned and used in the following centuries as a quarry.
Coat of arms
The village coat of arms shows a red background on the white figure of St. Lawrence, with rust in the right and martyr's palm in her left hand. It was created in 1940 and is derived from an ancient seal. St. Lawrence was the chapel in the Middle Ages patron saint of the village and patron.
