Ridge (Dorset)

Ridge is a small village within the Civil parishs Arne, on the peninsula Isle of Purbeck in Dorset in the south of England.

Ridge is located about 1 km south-east of Wareham and about 4 km west of Arne. It lies on the southern bank of the River Frome.

A jetty at the Frome River shore at Ridge was once an important trading center for Purbeck Ball Clay. The clay was brought to the shipyard of the Furzebrook narrow gauge railway and inland vessels loaded for the trip to Poole Harbour. The web is now abandoned and the yard has turned into a marina.
