Robert Almer ( born March 20, 1984 in Bruck / Mur) is an Austrian football goalkeeper who is currently at German second division side Energie Cottbus under contract.

Club career

Almers first professional stop was the SK Sturm Graz. After successful performances in amateur and youth team of the club, he finally moved to Austria Wien. After a year in Austria, he was presented to the standing in cooperation with the Austrian SC Rheindorf Altach to gain match practice before he was short at SC Untersiebenbrunn under contract. After the stint in Altach Almer changed to DSV Leoben, also a co- association of Austria.

After half a year in Leoben Almer returned to Austria and was a goalkeeper in the amateurs in the second-class First League and spare goalie of the professional team. For the season 2006/ 07 he moved to Austrian Bundesliga and UEFA Cup starter SV Mattersburg, in which he also had his first appearance in the highest Austrian league. For the season 2008/ 09 he returned in barter against Thomas Salamon back to Austria. He stood right in the squad of the successful team, which celebrated the Cup victory. This season he always came back to missions as a substitute goalkeeper for Szabolcs Safar and Heinz Lindner.

With the beginning of the season 2011/12 Almer moved to the German second division club Fortuna Dusseldorf. With Fortuna Dusseldorf Almer rose in the Bundesliga, after relegation to the second division in May 2013, he left the club.

For the 2013/14 season he signed a contract with FC Energie Cottbus

National

Almer was goalie of the successful U-19 national team of Austria, which brought in Liechtenstein at the 2003 U-19 European Championship bronze medal. He played 30 youth internationals in various junior teams of Austria. In November 2009 he was called up for the first time for the OFB -A match against Spain.

On 15 November 2011, he made ​​his debut for the senior national team in a friendly against the Ukraine, where he was employed over the full distance. During the subsequent 3-1 win against Finland Almer countries was also summoned again over the entire season.
