Robert Cartwright

Robert " Bob" Cartwright is a former American art director and production designer, who was nominated four times for an Academy Award for Best Production Design.

Life

Cartwright began his career as an art director and production designer in the film industry in Hollywood in 1952 as a draftsman at The Card and worked throughout his forty year career in about 50 films.

At the Academy Awards in 1965, he was nominated for the first time with John Bryan, Maurice Carter and Patrick McLoughlin for an Academy Award for Best Production Design, and indeed for the color film Becket (1964). Followed in 1971 along with Terence Marsh and Pamela Cornell another nomination in this category for Scrooge ( 1970), as well as in 1972 with Marsh and Peter Howitt for the production design in Mary Stuart, Queen of Scotland (1971).

One final nomination for the Academy Award for Best Production Design, he got the Oscar ceremony in 1981 with Stuart Craig and Hugh Scaife for The Elephant Man (1980). Last Bob Cartwright was involved in 1991 as a production designer on the production of the television film gem hunting.
