Robert Hardy

Timothy Sydney Robert Hardy CBE ( born October 29, 1925 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England ) is a British actor.

Life

Robert Hardy's father, Henry Harrison Hardy, was from 1919 to 1931 director of the Cheltenham College, which is one of the first major boarding schools in Victorian England. Robert Hardy studied at Oxford with CS Lewis literature. He graduated from a Bachelor of Arts (BA). Hardy's acting career began in 1949 at the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre in Stratford- upon- Avon with classic pieces such as William Shakespeare's Henry V.

Known to a wide audience Hardy was not until 1978, in the role of the veterinarian Siegfried Farnon in the BBC series All Creatures Great and Small ( German Doctor and Small, 1980 by ARD stations broadcast.) Most recently, he was seen as Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge in the Harry Potter films.

In June 1981, Hardy was appointed by Queen Elizabeth II as a Commander of the Order of the British Empire ( CBE). In 1990 he was elected a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London (FSA ) in London.

Robert Hardy was 1952-1956 with Elizabeth Fox, daughter of Sir Lionel Fox, married. His second marriage with the costume designer Sally Pearson, a daughter of actress Gladys Cooper, lasted from 1961 until 1986. Working with actors Richard Burton Hardy was a friend. He has three children.
