Robert Heaton

Robert Charles Heaton ( born July 6, 1961 in Knutsford, Cheshire; † 4 November 2004) was a British drummer and member of the British band New Model Army. Together with Justin Sullivan and Stuart Morrow he belonged since the early 80s of the founding members of the band. He was also the author of many New Model Army songs, such as the anthem Green And Grey.

In 1998 he retired for health reasons from the band. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor and was replaced by Michael Dean.

After he seemed to have the disease already overcome after successful surgery and was engaged in new musical projects, Heaton died unexpectedly on 4 November 2004 from the effects of pancreatic cancer.

The fans of the band, he will never be forgotten thanks to his many contributions to the song repertoire of the band. Some of the most famous pieces, the New Model Army wrote Heaton or in which he co-wrote are:
