Robert Schuster

Robert Schuster ( born 1970 in Meissen ) is a German director and university teacher.

Life

Robert Schuster graduated from 1991 to 1992 an undergraduate course in Theatre Studies and Cultural Studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin. In 1992 he moved to study for theater directing at the Academy of Dramatic Arts " Ernst Busch" Berlin, where he met his fellow student Tom Kühnel, with whom he formed a production team in the following years. Even with their early enactments made Schuster and Kühnel national attention and were quickly counted among the newcomers of German theater. Bernd Wilms, then director of the Maxim Gorki Theater, became aware of the director duo and after the measure of Bertolt Brecht asked for their production at the Theater Berlin 1994 received the Max -Reinhardt Prize of the Republic of Austria, Schuster and Kühnel, shortly afterwards with their Christmas at staging by Alexander Ivanovich Ivanov Vvedenski at the Maxim Gorki Theater awarded the Friedrich Luft Prize in Berlin. In 1997, Schuster with Christian Tschirner the author collective Sören Voima. It was followed by productions of common Schuster / Kühnel at the Maxim Gorki Theater, the Theater Bremen and then a firm commitment at the spectacle Frankfurt. Your Peer Gynt by Henrik Ibsen brought the Frankfurter Schauspielhaus a national success and in 1997 they received the Otto - box prize, a " Prize of the German director ".

From 1999 to 2002 shoemaker guided together with Tom Kühnel the TAT in the Bockenheimer Depot in Frankfurt am Main. In 2001, she revived the tradition of experimenta at TAT. At the invitation of the UN followed Schuster and Kühnel in 2000 to New York, where she showed her Berlin playhouses staging quota by the author collective Sören Voima, the diplomats and statesmen. Since 2000, Schuster staged for the opera and the theater alone. He was appointed Member of the German Academy of Performing Arts in 2001. In 2004 he was appointed professor of directing at the Academy of Dramatic Arts "Ernst Busch ". 2012 was followed by his first feature film Outside is Over, an exploration of his childhood and youth in the GDR. Last Robert Schuster was seen with his very euphoric recorded by feuilleton staging Rats by Gerhard Hauptmann in Freiburg.

He is the younger brother of Stefan Schuster biophysicist.
