Association

ŠK Slovan Bratislava

Róbert Vittek began his career in his homeland and birthplace Bratislava at ŠK Slovan Bratislava in the youth team before the season 1999/2000, then he played in the first team of the club. As a youth player he had a pre-contract with Real Madrid, the move to Spain, however, fell through due to a serious knee injury.

1 FC Nuremberg

In August 2003 he moved to Germany at that second-division club FC Nuremberg 1. Vittek managed with the club in the season 2003/ 04 promotion to the first division, to which he contributed ten goals in 27 games. In the 2004/ 05 Bundesliga season he played 24 games for the 1st FC Nuremberg, scoring five goals. He had to end prematurely the season though. Injuries threw Vittek since then always come back. Vittek was transferred for a fee of four million euros for Lille, where he received a contract until 2012. During the winter break of the 2010/ 11 Red Bull Salzburg worked at transferring the striker.
