Robin Bridgeman, 3rd Viscount Bridgeman

Robin John Orlando Bridgeman, 3rd Viscount Bridgeman ( born December 5, 1930) is a British peer and politician ( Conservative Party ).

Life and career

The son of Brigadier Geoffrey Bridgeman and Mary Talbot, and grandson of William Bridgeman, 1st Viscount Bridgeman, Eton College visited in Berkshire. He served in 1950 and 1951 in the Rifle Brigade and reached there the rank of second lieutenant ( 2nd Lieutenant ). The Royal Green Jackets he reached the rank of lieutenant.

1958 Bridgeman chartered accountant ( Chartered Accountant ). In the same year, he joined as a management trainee at the shipping company P & O and worked in their offices in Hong Kong, Singapore and London. In 1960 Bridgeman in the stock-broking and investment. In 1973 he was & Crosthwaite partner in the investment company Fenn. 1975 the company merged with George Henderson and formed the company Henderson Crosthwaite & Co, was in the Bridgeman 1979-1986 partner. In 1986, after the acquisition of the company by the Irish bank Guinness Mahon, he was first a member of the Board of Guinness Mahon from 1988 to 1990 he was director there. 1992 Bridgeman finished his main occupation.

From 1988 to 1994 he was also director of nests -BNA plc. He is also a director since 1972 of the Bridgeman Art Library. Bridgeman was chairman of the Friends of Lambeth Palace Library 1992-2008 and Treasurer of the New England Company, a Missionary Society from 1996 to 2006 and the Florence Nightingale Aid in Sickness Trust at 1995 to 2006. He was also Chairman of the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth of 1999 to 2007. From 1986 to 1999 he was Special trustee of the Hammersmith and Queen Charlotte's Hospital Authority.

From 1992 to 1993 he was president of the Foundation Appeal of Reed 's School, and President of 1995 to 2002. He was Chairman of the Asset Management Investment Co PLC is changed from 1994 to 2001.

Bridgeman is a Knight of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.

Membership in the House of Lords

On November 17, 1982, he inherited the title of his uncle, Robert Bridgeman, 2nd Viscount Bridgeman. He was also a member of the House of Lords. He is one of the chosen Hereditary Peers who were allowed to retain their seat in the House of Lords after the House of Lords Act 1999. There he sits for the Conservative Party. When his political interests he calls health, social services, environmental policy, domestic policy and the local government.

He was Whip of the opposition from 1998 to 2010. From 2001 to 2010 he was opposition spokesman for Home Affairs ( Opposition Spokesperson for Home Affairs ) and from 2001 to 2007 and from 2009 to 2010 for Northern Ireland.

Family

Bridgeman since December 10, 1966 by Harriet Turton, daughter of Ralph Meredyth Turton, married. They have four sons. One of the sons died in 2001.
