Rock in Rio is the fifth live album by British heavy metal band Iron Maiden. The album was released on 25 March 2002 via EMI.

Background

The album was recorded during the Rock in Rio Festival on January 19, 2001. Iron Maiden were headlining and played in front of 250,000 people; the second largest backdrop against which the band has ever played (When I Rock in Rio, there were about 300,000 viewers). The performance was also the end of the "Brave New World Tour".

During the concert the band played many of their best known songs. Worth mentioning, however, Sign of the Cross and The Clansman, which were originally sung by Blaze Bayley.

The intro of the concert comes from the soundtrack of the film First Knight. The keyboard at the concert was played by Michael Kenney.

All the songs from the studio albums before Brave New World can be heard here for the first time with three guitars.

As video the song Brave New World and the documentation A Day in the Life was attached to the CDs.

The album was also released as a DVD. The second DVD contains several interviews, a documentary about the private side of the band and a photo diary of Ross Halfin.
