Rokuhara Tandai

Rokuhara Tandai (Japanese六 波罗 探 题) was the name of the commander of the Kamakura shogunate in Heian - kyō (now Kyoto ) and its organization, whose members ensured the safety in Kinai ( the lands around the capital ) and for the legal affairs in western Japan were responsible and negotiated with the imperial court.

Rokuhara called this an area east of the river Kamo between the then 5 ( Gojo - ōji ) and 7th Street ( Shichijō - ōji ) Heian Kyo and today Matsubara road and Shichijō Street in Higashiyama -ku, Kyoto.

The Rokuhara Tandai was founded after the war Jōkyū 1221. The two conductors were called Kitakata (北方) and Minamikata (南方). The Kitakata was senior to the Minamikata. As with Shikken and Rensho, the Hōjō clan had a monopoly on both items. The Office was disbanded after the fall of the Kamakura shogunate in 1333.
