Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bulawayo

The Archdiocese of Bulawayo (Latin: Archidioecesis Bulauaiensis ) is a location in Zimbabwe Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Bulawayo.

History

The Archdiocese of Bulawayo was born on January 4, 1931 by Pope Pius XI. with the Apostolic Constitution Congregationis Missionariorum of annexations of the Apostolic Prefecture of Salisbury as a mission sui juris Bulawayo built. On 18 July 1932, the mission was sui juris Bulawayo Pius XI through. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Admonet Nos for Apostolic Prefecture. The Apostolic Prefecture of Bulawayo was born on April 13, 1937 by Pius XI. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Ad maiorem dignitatis Apostolic Vicariate. On June 29, 1953, the Vicariate Apostolic of Bulawayo were from parts of its territory establishing the Apostolic Prefecture of Wankie.

The Apostolic Vicariate of Bulawayo was born on January 1, 1955 by Pope Pius XII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Quod Christ to the diocese and the Archdiocese of Salisbury is a suffragan. On April 2, 1959, the Diocese of Bulawayo were from parts of its territory establishing the Apostolic Prefecture of Bechuanaland. The Diocese of Bulawayo was on 10 June 1994 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Ipso bene iuvante raised to an archbishopric.
