Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Dakar

The Archdiocese of Dakar (Latin: Archidioecesis Dakarensis ) is located in Senegal Metropolitan diocese of the Roman Catholic Church.

History

Forerunner of today's Archdiocese of Dakar is on 6 February 1863 by Pope Pius IX. Founded Apostolic Vicariate of Senegambia, from 27 January 1936 Pope Pius XI. renamed as Apostolic Vicariate of Dakar. Pius XII. raised the Vicariate on 14 September 1955 Archdiocese of Dakar.

Are suffragan Kaolack (1965 ), Kolda ( 1999), Saint- Louis ( 1966), Tambacounda (1989 ), Thies (1969) and Ziguinchor ( 1955).
