Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Quito

The Archdiocese of Quito (Latin: Archidioecesis quitensis ) is an Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic church located in Quito, Ecuador.

The Archdiocese was posted on January 8, 1545 as the Diocese of Quito (Latin quitensis ), a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Lima at that time in the former San Francisco de Quito by Pope Paul III. founded; first bishop was the García Díaz Arias. By Pope Pius IX. the diocese was elevated to an archdiocese on January 13, 1848. It is a diocese with Cardinal tradition.
