Roman Catholic Diocese of Riobamba

The Diocese of Riobamba (Latin: Dioecesis Rivibambensis, Spanish: diócesis de Riobamba ) is a located in Ecuador Roman Catholic diocese based in Riobamba.

History

The Diocese of Riobamba was posted on December 29, 1862 by Pope Pius IX. out of territory of the diocese of Cuenca erected as Diocese of Bolívar. It was the Archdiocese of Quito is a suffragan. On August 25, 1955, the Diocese of Bolívar changed its name to the diocese of Riobamba. The Diocese of Riobamba announced on December 29, 1957 from parts of its territory to the foundation of the diocese Guaranda.
