Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Shenyang

The Archdiocese of Shenyang (Latin: Archidioecesis Fomtienensis ) is a located in the People's Republic of China Roman Catholic archdiocese headquartered in Shenyang.

History

The Archdiocese of Shenyang was born on August 16, 1838 by Pope Gregory XVI. built with the Apostolic Constitution Ex debito from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Beijing as the Apostolic Vicariate of Liaoning. On August 20, 1840, the Apostolic Vicariate of Liaoning gave parts of its territory to the founding of the Apostolic Vicariate of Mongolia and was renamed Vicariate Apostolic Liaoning and Manchuria. The Apostolic Vicariate of Liaoning and Manchuria was renamed on October 10, 1898 in Apostolic Vicariate of South Manchuria and were parts of its territory to the founding of the Apostolic Vicariate of North Manchuria from. On 3 December 1924, the Apostolic Vicariate of South Manchuria was renamed Vicariate Apostolic Shenyang. The Apostolic Vicariate of Shenyang announced on August 2, 1929 from parts of its territory establishing the Apostolic Siping Prefecture. A further transfer of territory took place on February 4, 1932 establishing the Apostolic Fushun Prefecture.

The Apostolic Vicariate of Shenyang was posted on April 11, 1946 by Pope Pius XII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Quotidie Nos to the archbishopric. On 14 July 1949, the Archdiocese of Shenyang were parts of its territory from the foundation of the Diocese of Yingkou.
